Ok so yesterday was T4 on the beach at Weston Super-mare… oh my, what a day, what a line up. I bought tickets at 9 o’clock on the day they became available having waited for them for weeks and I must say I was not wrong to do so!! So here we go with a bit of a review in the order the played with the exception of a couple that I can’t remember lol.
We arrived in the queue at 10.20 the gates opened half an hour early at 10.30. Bands started at 12 and finished at 6.
Frank –
From totally frank… crap but what can you do?!?!!
The all American rejects – Dirty little secret, move along, new song (didn’t catch the name);
these were one of the bands I was going for, following them for 8 months or so now and they are truly amazing, pretty good live also but I reckon a louder inside venue would be better. Very very good.
The Automatic – Monster, Raoul, Recover;
Again a band I was looking forward to seeing live. Been following them since fresher year at uni when the would come and play at parties at our halls in their best friends dorm… they’re from Cowbridge u see known as white rabbit or summit like that back then. All the same they’re very good and arguably the best live act around at the mo.
Lily Allen –
Watchable but not for long
Basement Jaxx – Do ya thing, good luck, some random thing;
Basements are always good fun and they were put on at exactly the perfect time. Lifted the whole crowd and created a party atmosphere that didn’t ever drop. The later bands made sure of that but they were much fun and you couldn’t help but smile when they were on stage.
Ne-yo – So sick, Sexy love;
Good songs, I know all the words lol, he’s only 22. Not the best show of the day but decent songs, scantily clad dancers and the basements being on before made it all good.
Mcfly – Obviously, Please please, It’s all about you;
Actually awesome, I do like Mcfly and they are one of those bands that you really should see once. They were surprisingly fun and basement jaxx esq. Songs are excellent and again if you sing along it makes it all that bit better.
Pussycat dolls – Buttons, Hot like me, Beep;
well, they’re not the greatest singers in the world but they tried some variances in certain songs but tbh it’s not really about the singing is it.
Busta rhymes –
Hard core motherfukka rap… pretty good but a little bit out of place amongst the pop, rock and indie that were dominating the day.
The Zutons – Valerie, Why won’t you give me your love;
I really like the Zutons, have the album and valerie is one of my top plays, but he was clearly pissed off about miming and turned his guitar around a few time and played the back of it, didn’t mouth some of the words and made bitchy comments. I get that they don’t like not playing live but should still make an effort for the crowd. Good songs but I’ll remember them as bit of a diva from now on…. And never knew they were THAT scouse!!
Embrace – World at your feet, Natures law, Ashes;
OH MY!!! Top 5 fav bands of all time and they played the 3 best songs in the best order that they possibly could. Ashes is mayb my fav song of all time. They were amazing. Loved their shirts also. Saw them in cardiff at tsunami concert and I just want to see them a 3rd time now!!
Orson – Bright idea, No tomorrow;
cue the puns lol… they really were awesome tho. No tomorrow is probably the song of the year. Amazing to see it live and everyone chanting along to bright idea was great. He’s one of those guys who gets away with the whole slightly cocky arrogant waddling around the stage. Little bit robbie williams esq! Very very good.
The feeling – Fill my little world (right up), Sewn;
Fill my little world was my April song of the month but I still play it daily. Sewn is great also. Very pleased to have seen them. Worth while seeing them was one I was looking forward to… loving them at the min.
Razorlight – Golden touch, In the morning;
Razorlight… need I say more. When I’m old and grey I’ll be able to say I saw them and that’s all that really matters.
Simon Webb – Lay your hands, No worries;
I actually love this guy. Know all the words to all 3 of his songs. He is exceptional and I loved singing with him… although I think some beaters vested western locals were laughing at me for knowing the words.
Boy Kill Boy – Suzie, Civil sin;
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH first they were gonna play then they wern’t. We arrived not expecting to see them but they came on and I couldn’t contain myself!! Went crazy. The single most important reason I bought the tickets. The one band I’d go and see if I could only see one. My favourite band of 2005 and 2006 love the songs. Felt extra special when they said their next single is Civil sin as I knew it from the first time round when they were trying to break onto the scene. It’s my fav boy kill boy song. I used to play it in bris last summer and everyone went "whats this song?" well you’ll all know it now. Will actually remember that all my life!! Words really don’t cut it.
Feeder – Lost and Found, Buck Rogers, some new song;
Saw them at tsunami also. Feeder are legendary. Loving them always makes me thing of owen wilson and behind enemy lines when buck rogers comes on… a must see, better live than on any other format.
Hard-fi – Cash machine, Hard to beat, living for the weekend;
Surprise act. Same as Boy kill boy that they were originally confirmed then not then they turned up. As you’d imagine they were great. Songs are legendary now and live they were pretty good. Bit like some of the others it would have been better louder but it’s all good! They were excellent.
Shayne Ward – new song, That’s my goal;
Voted for him… love it. What about No promises tho?!?!?!?!
We left at this point to beat the traffic and we needed to get back.
The ordinary boys – 9 to 5, Boys will be boys, Seaside;
friends that stayed to the end said they were surprisingly good. I do like them but wasn’t to upset to miss them, besides we heard them on our way out.
Stunt planes came, they were good, bit random but good all the same.
Will Young -
would have likes to see him just to say I had but not the end of the world. He is good but after what we’d seen before it wasn’t a big loss. Friends said he was very good.
Such a great day… I think the line up speaks for itself. Wouldn’t have changed a thing really. Easily the best concert I’ve ever been to. Look out for photos on Bebo and facebook.
The ones I can’t fit into the line up are :
Matt willis – Up all night, hey kid;
really surprising I liked him.
Danii Minogue –
shit… we all sat down and ate.
Petshop boys –
Worse… the whole crowd sat down. Embarrassingly few claps at the end and he said good night to us… DOOD IT’S 4.30 p.m. WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT???????
